The Best & Worst at Red Carpet Met Ball 2012
The Best & Worst at Red Carpet Met Ball 2012 – It’s the Super Bowl of fashion, and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual ball Monday night(May 7) stars of the style and entertainment industries came with their sartorial best.
Sure to replicated over and over, one of the hottest trends of the evening was fierce metallic. Worn in a variety of shades, from black to bright gold, this shiny offering kept things glistening on the red carpet.
Open backs were once again a must-see. Offering up a some serious skin without being too provocative, the glitzy gig saw this cut arrive time and time again. While there were some definitely fashion moments made, a nearly-equal amount of style no-no’s slithered there way to the swanky soiree.
Check out our list of best and worst dressed at the 2012 Costume Institute Gala below!
The Best Dress at the Met Ball 2012
Beyonce: Making her first official public appearance after giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy, the 30-year old bombshell showed off her incredible post baby bod in a seriously sexy Givenchy Haute Couture gown with sheer draping and purple and black feather accents.
Jessica Alba: Never one to fall short of fashion perfection, Alba truly struck gold with this Grecian-style one-shoulder metallic Michael Kors creation. Complimenting her look with gorgeous drop earrings and ruby red lips, this stunner had our jaws dropping.
Emma Stone: Hollywood’s ‘It’ girl showed some major leg in a tea-length ruby red Lanvin dress. To complete her look, Stone swept her tresses into a sleek updo and rocked a sexy cat-eye to pop her peepers.
Heidi Klum: The “Project Runway” host donned a sassy blue lace number designed by Escada. The gown was equipped with a thigh-high slit which showed off the supermodels super stems.
Ashley Greene: The “Breaking Dawn” hottie turned heads when she arrived in a gorgeous white Donna Karan number with impeccable draping. Greene kept things simple in the hair and makeup department opting for long loose waves and a seductive nude lip.
Sofia Vergara: This sexy siren donned a silver strapless Marchesa peplum-style dress that showed off her ever so sexy curves! She finished off her mega-glam ensemble with dramatic makeup and Harry Winston jewels.
Rosie Huntington Whiteley: Looking ever so stunning, the “Transformers” babe turned up the heat on the Met red carpet in a floor-length, form-fitting Burberry frock. Rocking a high, sleek bun and a stunning gaze, Miss Rosie had us swooning all night long.
Candice Swanepoel: The Victoria’s Secret stunner wowed in a cobalt and navy blue custom-made gown inspired by Elsa Schiaparelli’s skeleton dress. Showing off her assests in a strappy, open back, Candice further solidified her bombshell status in the fashion realm.
Camilla Belle: This beauty channeled old Hollywood glam in a lovely low-cut Ralph Lauren frock. She completed her haute look with a side-swept chignon and gothic lips.
Diana Agron: This Glee starlet’s gown left us green with envy with its rich hue, plunging neckline and uber-synched waist.
The Worst Dress at the Met Ball 2012
Leighton Meester: She can usually do no wrong, but at last night’s swanky affair, the Gossip Girl starlet broke her satorial ‘hit list’ streak with a busy, gold-toned chiffon Marchesa gown and matching tan.
Christina Ricci: We’re a sucker for a chic Thakoon frock, but this wild offering proved to be a bit too much for Ricci’s seriously petite frame.
Kristen Stewart: She’s known for taking style risks, but unfortunately for fans of the “Twilight” star, last night’s leap of fashion faith did not pan out in her favor. Seemingly channeling a confused teen closet, Kristen’s Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière knee-length dress was better off being left at home.
Sarah Jessica Parker: An overbearing floral print Valentino dress had her looking more ready for an after school tea party dress up than the red carpet. Her printed Manolo Blahnik pumps also matched her gown to a T – a definite no-no in the fashion world.
Elizabeth Banks: Making for quite the unflattering entrance, Miss Banks arrived in a questionable, multi layered and patterned Mary Katranzou creation that was just a bit too ‘out there’ for us.
Coco Rocha: Oh, this one hurts. We love us some Coco, and our affection for the late Elizabeth Taylor goes without saying – but this brigtht yellow vintage pantsuit echoed more 80s Tweety Bird than high fashion formal.
Lana Del Rey: Seemingly channeling her inner goth, the Gala newcomer really missed the style mark when she waltzed in sporting a dark lip, nearly-matching black cape and silver sequin frock by Joseph Altuzarra.
Kate Upton: She’s known for her vixen-like style choices, but Kate failed to wow the crowd when she hit last night’s fashion affair in a face full of heavy, aging makeup complete with an unflattering gold sequin Michael Kors gown.
