One of the major music awards in Japan, Billboard Music , announced their set of winners last March 3rd for Billboard Japan Music Awards 2011 . Popular all-girl group AKB48 was the big winner when they took home four awards from major categories including Artist of the Year, Top Pop Artist 2011, Billboard Japan Hot 100 of Year for “Everyday Kachuusha” , and Billboard Japan Hot 100 Single Sales of the Year for “Everyday Kachuusha”.

The group made history by becoming the first act to pick up four honours – they were also named one of five Top Pop Artists, and took home awards for Hot 100 Act of the Year and Hot 100 Single Sales of the Year. Other Top Pop Artists were Avril Lavigne, Korean boy band Tohoshinki, girl group T-ara, and Japanese singer Juju.
